MIDWIFE & FOUNDER

Nicole Primoff, LM

Nicole founded Beacon Community Midwifery after working in a variety of birth settings and becoming frustrated with the traditional model of obstetrical care in the United States. With two daughters of her own, Nicole has seen first-hand the importance of community in raising our families. She believes prenatal care and respectful birth should help build the foundation for empowered families and sustainable community.

Nicole has been overjoyed by the need to expand her team over the years as Beacon Community Midwifery has been able to support more and more families of the Hudson Valley. Clients now get the benefit of a shared birth team and full scope practice with the addition of midwives Sarah and Grace, women who Nicole has known and worked alongside for many years.

PARTNER MIDWIFE - BIRTH

Sarah Colbath, LM

Sarah (she/her) began her journey into midwifery in 2008 after discovering the joy and honor of working with pregnant people through her then profession of massage therapy. Having had the most incredible inspiration in her own midwives for the home births of three children, Sarah hopes that her commitment to this life affirming work is just as empowering to those in her care as her providers were to her.

Sarah worked with hundreds of families in NYC for nearly a decade as a labor support doula and lactation counselor, and as a midwives' assistant at the Brooklyn Birthing Center where she first met Nicole. She graduated with honors both in nursing school at Hunter College, and at SUNY Downstate Medical Center for her Masters in Midwifery. She trained primarily in NYC public hospitals in Brooklyn and the Bronx under the guidance of a diverse group of impassioned midwives. Sarah then had the great fortune of working with her own beloved home birth midwives before moving to New Jersey where she worked for several years at a practice that served home, hospital, and birthing center families. She now joins Beacon Community Midwifery in helping support families through prenatal, birth, and postpartum care.

PARTNER MIDWIFE - GYN/FERTILITY

Grace Rice, LM, WHNP

As a queer woman, Grace has seen first-hand how important identity-affirming, person-centered, holistic care is to health equity. She looks forward to supporting folx as they care for themselves and plan their families.

Grace worked in public health in NYC before attending midwifery school with Nicole at Yale University, recently obtained a Doctorate in Nursing Practice, and teaches Health Policy and Advocacy on faculty at Ohio State University’s College of Nursing.

Grace supports Beacon Community Midwifery clients through well care, fertility support, and in-home IUI. She allows the practice to be truly full scope by supporting families throughout all phases and choices in their reproductive lives.

STAFF NURSE

Jess Falcon, RN

Jess has been working as a labor and delivery nurse in several different settings, from high-risk hospitals to low-risk birth centers. Her experience in varying environments offer a wealth of knowledge and experience to guide new families on their journeys.

Her favorite part of birth work is hearing women realize how strong they are. Hearing them say "We did it" once their little one is born melts her heart every time. Nothing is more rewarding and special than helping families welcome their new joy into the world.

Jess recently started her Masters in Nursing Midwifery through SUNY Stony Brook. She is elated to be able to share her warmth and knowledge and support growing families.

OFFICE ASSISTANT

Jacqui Feinstix

Jacqui Feinstix is an Ulster County based birth doula, birth assistant, childbirth educator, lactation counselor, and prenatal yoga teacher servicing Ulster, Dutchess, Orange, and Westchester county parents.

While completing her yoga teacher training in 2012, Jacqui was drawn to the magical energy of pregnant yogis and was inspired to pursue prenatal yoga. She found her true calling to support people during their journey to parenthood and the universe opened its doors.

She empowers birthing people with the information their minds need, the movement and breath their bodies crave, and her protective energy and big heart. She believes that there is no one right way to birth, that each experience is unique and special. If Jacqui is not supporting a birth, teaching a yoga class, or guiding a hands on childbirth education class, you will find her hosting her bimonthly new parent’s feeding circle (Nurture Café) and monthly women’s gathering (Kula Luna) to help foster a beautiful sense of community.

Jacqui is a baby-wearing, cloth-diapering, magical mom, who she lives in New Paltz with her wife Katie, young son Zander, and a rescue dog named “Zeppelin” (yes, after Led Zeppelin!). Jacqui has a “whole lotta love” to give.
