Meet your midwife.

Nicole is a certified nurse midwife and women’s health nurse practitioner. She graduated from the Yale School of Nursing after working in policy and advocacy at Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), where she was inspired to start her own clinical career. Throughout her clinical and professional experiences, Nicole has been fortunate to practice in home, birth center, and hospital settings. She is passionate about lactation support and is a Certified Lactation Counselor.

Nicole is honored to be part of the long midwifery tradition of supporting clients with compassion, respect, and personalized care. She believes birth can be transformational. In addition to her clinical credentials, Nicole holds an MA in international affairs from the New School and a BA in human rights and political studies from Bard College. She is the mother of two strong and spirited girls. Her youngest daughter was born at her home in Beacon, NY.

Community Birth.

For community birth to truly serve families it needs to be just that—a community. With that as a guiding principle, Nicole works in collaboration with midwives Sarah Colbath, LM and Grace Rice, LM.

While building this practice and striving to serve more families of the Hudson Valley, Nicole sought out trusted colleagues who had the same overlapping goals, to support this community through holistic, respectful, and client-centered care at home while working sustainably for our own families and communities. With these partners, clients have access to full-spectrum care with an intimate team that will know you and your family.

Partnering means sustainable midwifery practices, so we can serve the Hudson Valley for years to come. It means client access to passionate, well-rested, fully present, wholly supported midwives at all times. It means more than one critical thinker with eyes on every clinical issue that comes up. It means community care.

Full spectrum care.

With their combined interests and expertise, Nicole, Grace, and Sarah strive to provide care throughout the life span. Clients can seek preconception health advice, fertility support including in-home IUI (intrauterine insemination), prenatal care and homebirth, postpartum and lactation support, contraception, home-based abortion care, and well care from Beacon Community Midwifery. All of these services benefit from being community and relationship-based.

In addition, the birth community throughout the Hudson Valley has provided invaluable resource to further serve our clients. We have built an extensive referral network for pregnancy, birth, and postpartum support with their help and provide a number of their services as part of our package. The standard American obstetric model fails families during the postpartum period and we aim to correct that through collaboration. We strive for a wrap-around care model, meaning your support does not end with the end of your pregnancy.

It truly takes a village to raise our families and so we strive to model that in our own practice and in how we serve the Hudson Valley.

We can’t wait to be part of your community!

Birth Equity and Reparations

Our healthcare system is racist. For many people in the United States, safe, high-quality prenatal and birth care is not accessible. In addition to taking all insurance plans, including Medicaid and state funded plans, Beacon Community Midwifery also uses a portion of our reimbursements to fund homebirth scholarships to help make homebirth more accessible to all. Additionally, we contribute to BIPOC midwifery scholarship funds to increase representation in the midwifery field. Every family deserves to have supportive midwifery care from a midwife in their own community.
